I am aware of two situations (one fairly intimately) where a new leader or CEO has been brought in over the last 12 to 24 months. One of their first actions is to "clean house" and replace almost all current employees with their own team.
In my opinion, this demonstrates the new leader's insecurity and narrow-mindedness. It's an ego statement that they can do it better and that everybody who was there is "not good enough ." So they take all institutional knowledge and throw it out of the window.
I am not betting on either of these new "leaders" lasting too long in their new positions. But unfortunately, the organizations they have been charged with "leading" will be paying the price for their short-sighted point of view for many years after their departures.
