Well, here we are, waking up in Cape Town this morning. Landing here last night after a long flight and driving through town felt surreal. Our first stop is a small hotel called the Camissa House in Oranjezicht, the first neighborhood where I was born and lived.
Today we will recover from our long trip and take a trip down memory lane. I will take Bethany to see my first house, my grandparents house, my first school, and the hospital where I was born. We also plan to visit the South African Jewish Museum to learn about my community and how it is dispersed worldwide.
Tonight I hope to go to services in the synagogue where I grew up and sit in the seat I believe still has my grandfather's name. I am sure my emotions will be everywhere, and I wish my dad were here to share the experience with me.
And then tomorrow, we will fly up to Kruger National Park for a safari—and check one big item off the bucket list.
My posts early next week will be about our regular stuff, and then I will keep sharing about this adventure.😊
