AI is changing the way businesses are marketing as well as how buyers are shopping. Case in point: Black Friday weekend traffic to retailers from ChatGPT and other LLMs was nearly eight times last year’s.
The Wall Street Journal reports that this development presents a billion-dollar question: Do marketers need to completely rethink their search strategies, or is AI search optimization simply a complement to traditional SEO?
While AI search is on a trajectory to drive revenue, how companies should prepare remains up for debate.
An initial idea that AI optimization would replace SEO as traditional search withered has evolved into a view that the two disciplines will merge as both kinds of search persist.
