Companies are trying just about everything to lure employees back to the office. After getting used to working from the comforts of home during the pandemic, employees want to just kick off their shoes while working. A growing number of Silicon Valley startups is allowing them to do just that by making wearing shoes optional.
Here are some top perspectives from LinkedIn:
Global executive Marva Bailer is all for a relaxed “shoeless Friday” if it can shift workplace culture into a positive direction. “A small perk like this says, we’re flexible, we’re listening, and we’re open to new ways of working.”
Elodie O’Rourke, a global leader in Amsterdam, isn’t a fan of the trend, saying, “Shoes are not optional. Neither is basic human decency.” Coworkers should not be subjected to stinky feet even if it does boost creativity, she says.
