Next week, 65 members and alumni of the Entrepreneurs' Organization from around the world will gather at Banning Mills, Georgia for something that has never happened in EO before — the first-ever EO Grit Unconference!
I've been part of organizing it, and I can't wait.
If you've never heard of an unconference, here's the idea: there is no preset agenda. The community builds it together on the first morning. Anyone can propose a session. The best ideas rise to the top. People vote with their feet — if a session isn't working for you, you get up and find one that is. It sounds chaotic. It's actually one of the most focused, energizing learning formats I've ever experienced.
I attended several unconferences in a previous chapter of my life and always thought — this needs to exist inside EO. For years, it stayed on my mental wishlist. Too complicated. Not the right time. What if nobody shows up?
Finally, I just said screw it. Let's do this.
Sometimes that's what leadership looks like. Not a careful strategic plan. Not unanimous buy-in. Just a conviction that something is worth doing and enough stubbornness to make it happen.
Sixty-five people flying in from around the world suggests the idea wasn't crazy.
I'll report back. I have a feeling there's a lot to share.
