Most marketers are using AI. Few are using it well. Here's what actually matters.
1. Give AI context.
It doesn't know your brand, your audience, or what's worked before. Feed it everything.
2. Always edit.
The first draft is never good enough. The part that sounds truly human is on you.
3. Treat every prompt like a brief.
Audience, goal, tone, format, constraints. Same prompt, same output.
4. Guard your brand voice.
AI averages everything it learned. Tell it what you never say, not just what you do.
5. Manual before automated.
Find what works first. Then hand it off. Automating guesses just gets you wrong answers faster.
6. Know what AI can't do.
The best insight usually hasn't been captured yet. Pick up the phone. Talk to your audience.
7. Don't automate everything.
Decide what stays human. The creative calls. The relationship moments. More AI isn't always better.
8. Build a system.
Save prompts. Build templates.
9. Everyone has the same tools.
The content edge is gone. Your relationships, your data, your taste, that's what wins now.
10. Keep paying attention.
The edge goes to whoever sees what's coming next, not whoever has the best tools today.
