I’ve noticed that our greatest strength often creates our most predictable weakness.

A friend of mine is an incredible dealmaker. He’s always chasing the next opportunity—but without great operators behind him, the deals won’t work.

Another person I work with is an exceptional operator: disciplined, process-driven, organized. But he needs customer-oriented people around him to make sure the process doesn’t become the priority over the customer.

And a startup founder I’m helping is brilliantly creative, but numbers aren’t her strength. She needs financial scaffolding around her, not a personality transplant.

Maybe the goal isn’t to fix all our weaknesses.
