AmiSight 8/3: Are You a Trustee of Your Team’s Time?

One line from a recent Stanford Business School podcast really stuck with me: "Great leaders are trustees of other people's time."
That idea reframes leadership. Your team isn't just trusting you with a paycheck—they're trusting you with hours they'll never get back.
It's easy for organizations to keep adding meetings, approvals, reports, and processes. They all seem reasonable on their own, but over time they create friction that slows everyone down. Good leaders don't just add. They regularly subtract.
The goal isn't to eliminate all friction. Some friction is healthy—it forces better thinking and prevents rushed decisions. But the unnecessary friction that gets in the way of curiosity, collaboration, and momentum? That should be on the chopping block.
It's a good reminder to ask ourselves: Am I investing my team's time wisely, or am I simply keeping them busy?
Leadership isn't just about setting direction. It's about treating every minute your people give you as if it were your own.
