I have always believed there is real value in getting away, but I never thought of travel as preventive medicine.

This Wall Street Journal article looks at research showing that travel can do much more than help us relax. New places force our brains off autopilot. We navigate unfamiliar streets, meet different people, make more decisions and experience things outside our normal routines. Researchers believe that can build confidence, sharpen our thinking and improve our overall well-being. Even having a trip on the calendar can make us happier.

For entrepreneurs who spend so much of our lives running hard in the same environment, maybe getting away isn't something we should feel guilty about. Sometimes changing the scenery is exactly what our brains need.
