Amisight 9/28: Tips and Tricks from Scaling Up Coach Karie Kaufmann
Karie Kaufmann is a master coach and facilitator, having coached over 1,000 high-growth companies since 2005. Her clients have achieved double and triple-digit growth in profitability accomplished by implementing the Scaling Up framework and Rockefeller Habits. There are two parts to the Scaling Up methodology, strategic thinking and execution planning. She helps business leaders work through roadblocks and growing pains, build outstanding teams, and enable sustainable growth… all while enjoying the ride.
Karie grew up in a family business, so she became very familiar with business practices at a young age. Karie watched as ambitious entrepreneurs tried to hit their goals, build a team, and make it home for dinner. “Shouldn’t having a business give you more life? Not suck it out of you?”
While this was her entrepreneurial experience, she also strongly believes that you can learn to be an entrepreneur- you don’t have to be born into it. “A lot of my clients say they are accidental business owners; they weren't looking to be entrepreneurs. Instead, they started their company out of necessity or out of frustration of whatever they were doing before and thought they could do it better.”
What about when it comes to picking a coach to help you with your business? Karie suggests just starting with a conversation to determine if you’re a good match for each other. There are many different coaching styles, and it's essential to find what works best for you. “You should enjoy the process of growth and enjoy who you’re growing with.”
I asked Karie how having a coach is different than a consultant or peer group. She believes a coach “helps with strategy, holds you accountable, mentors, guides, facilitates and pushes you. They don’t just do it for you.”
