The SBA has announced that in fiscal year 2026, small manufacturers will not have to pay upfront loan fees. For one year, from October 1, 2025 through September 30, 2026, fees will be reduced to 0% on certain loans:
7(a) loans up to $950,000 → 0% upfront fee
504 loans → 0% upfront and 0% annual service fee
Why does this matter? Almost all U.S. manufacturers are small businesses. By removing fees, the SBA is making it easier for them to access capital, invest in growth, and hire workers.
This move also ties into the broader policy push to bring manufacturing back to the U.S., strengthen supply chains, and reduce dependence on foreign suppliers.
