AmiSight 2/3: Open Up About Your Weaknesses

When it comes to being a leader, image is everything, right? Who wants a leader who isn't perfect? Foibles are for the rest of the staff, not for the top gun.

But an article in the Harvard Business Review suggests otherwise. As employees' trust wanes and loyalty is hard to come by, HBR urges leaders to be more approachable regarding their ever-important image.


Now, this doesn't necessarily mean divulging major character flaws. If you're not too fond of public speaking or need help keeping up with the latest technology, go ahead and share that with your employees. They will likely appreciate your honesty and feel more comfortable with you and the company. After all, people want to be surrounded by fellow humans, not robots, right?
