Being a manager is challenging; there's no doubt about that. Throw in a pandemic, Great Resignation, inflation, and recession, and it's nearly impossible – unless you have a clear strategy. Even more important is to communicate this strategy to align the entire organization.


Thanks to Vistage chair Jeanette Hobson for sharing this article from the Harvard Business Review about managing strategic ambiguity. Although the article was published pre-pandemic in early 2019, the steps still ring true.


Writer Lisa Lai outlines three things managers can do now to manage potential vagueness in their strategy: Take pragmatic action, cultivate emotional steadiness, and tap into others’ expertise.
