We have all heard about the impact drugs like Ozempic and Wegovy are having on weight loss. But I hadn't thought much about all of the businesses that could be affected downstream.

Now it's clothing retailers.

According to Bloomberg, some retailers are cutting back on plus-size clothing as more people use GLP-1 drugs and the size distribution of their customers begins to change. H&M, for example, has eliminated some of its largest sizes from new collections.

Think about the ripple effect here. A pharmaceutical innovation changes people's weight. That changes what they eat, what clothes they buy and potentially what sizes retailers manufacture and stock. And those changes ripple through manufacturers, supply chains, stores and eventually countless other businesses.

It makes me wonder how many industries will ultimately be affected by GLP-1s that have absolutely nothing to do with healthcare.

For entrepreneurs, that's the interesting question. Sometimes the biggest disruption to your business doesn't come from a competitor. It comes from an innovation happening in a completely different industry.
