AmiSight 10/6: How American Airlines Lost My Loyalty
As an avid frequent flyer, I worked hard to earn Executive Platinum status on American Airlines (my hometown airline). I often take indirect routes or add an extra stop to meet my year-end goal.
Then, a few years ago, American Airlines threw their most loyal customers under the bus and made status all about dollars spent on their credit cards.
Now, a recent article in the Atlantic talks about how Delta is following suit, and if it weren't for their credit card programs, they would be losing money.
