“It is not happy people who are thankful, it is thankful people who are happy.”
Coming off the Thanksgiving holiday, many of us are returning to our routines—full inboxes, unfinished projects, and the steady pace of normal life. But before the gratitude fades with the leftovers, it’s worth remembering a simple truth: happiness doesn’t lead to thankfulness. Thankfulness leads to happiness.
We often assume we’ll feel grateful once everything goes well. But truly thankful people don’t wait for perfect conditions. They choose to notice the good that already exists—the people who showed up for them this week, the opportunities ahead, and the progress they’ve made so far.
As we head into the final stretch of the year, let’s not leave gratitude at the Thanksgiving table. Keep it close. Let it shape how you work, connect, and lead!
