AmiSight 8/4: Maybe AI Isn't Replacing People After All

For the past year, the narrative has been that AI would dramatically reduce hiring. Now we're starting to hear something different.

According to a recent Wall Street Journal article, companies like Alphabet, CSX, and Booz Allen Hamilton are actually ramping up hiring. After experimenting with AI, many are finding that growth still requires people. AI is making employees more productive, but it isn't replacing the need for talented engineers, salespeople, operators, and problem solvers.

To me, this isn't surprising. Throughout history, new technology has changed jobs far more often than it has eliminated work altogether. The organizations that win are usually the ones that combine great people with great tools—not one or the other.

The lesson for leaders isn't to fear AI or ignore it. It's to embrace it, help your team learn it, and then find ways for humans and technology to make each other better.

The future may not belong to AI alone. It will belong to people who know how to work with it.
