Viktor Frankl, the psychiatrist, Holocaust survivor, and author of Man’s Search for Meaning, once wrote: “Decisions, not conditions, determine what a man is.”
This is an important reminder that we are not defined by what happens to us, but by how we respond. While circumstances can be entirely out of our control, the decision you make becomes part of your character.
Conditions certainly matter—they shape our experiences and test our limits—but they do not have the final say. What matters most is the power to decide how we respond.
