I have always liked to think about my company, MultiFunding, as a family. We are a reasonably small team who have been together for years, share similar values, and take care of each other.
Adam Grant shared a thought on Instagram yesterday that I think accurately says that describing a company as a family doesn't work. He said, “ A company isn't a family. Parents don't fire their kids for low performance or furlough them in hard times." He went on to say, "A better vision for a workplace is a community – a place where people bond around shared values, feel valued as human beings and have a voice in decisions that affect them.
I think Adam is right. And I also believe that The Great Resignation far less threatens companies that work hard to build community. What are your thoughts?
