When I was speaking with a friend yesterday, an old phrase came up that I haven’t heard in a long time : “Oh yeah, those are lifestyle businesses.” The word is used to refer to businesses that aren’t growing quickly, or raising multiple rounds of capital.
I can’t stand the phrase. It has a negative connotation. Perhaps “lifestyle businesses” should be referred to as builders and “other entrepreneurs” should be referred to as flippers.
