AmiSight 8/13: Be Careful What You Say Before and After Meetings – AI Is Listening

Chances are you chitchat about your pets’ latest hijinks or exchange recipes before an online meeting. But did you know that these conversations can end up on the final AI-generated transcript?

The Wall Street Journal reports that AI notetakers can pick up on the small talk and private discussions that happen before or after the actual meeting.

Notetakers can do a variety of tasks from recording and transcribing calls, generating action items for teams, and recapping what’s already been said to anyone joining late. Although many signal to attendees that a meeting is being recorded and transcribed, not everybody realizes when the tape is rolling.

This results in some unintentionally hilarious, and sometimes dangerously honest, conversations being included in the automatic summaries, leading some to use the private chat feature in meetings instead of saying something aloud while AI is listening.
