While the remote work trend is shifting back to the office since the pandemic, the dress codes are remaining on the informal side. The Washington Post compiled a list of 39 dress rules which included: pants with an elastic waistband, jeans any day of the week, socks with quirky patterns, flowy dresses, and crisp T-shirts. But the paper suggests leaving the crop tops, flip-flops, and tight pants at home to have some semblance of a professional setting.
Here are some perspectives from LinkedIn:
Shannon Fitzgerald, co-founder/CCO of The Hooligans Agency, takes issue with some of the suggestions for female leaders such as color schemes.
“Male executives don't need to 'reclaim' colors or negotiate their competency and authority through visual cues – they're just accepted in the role,” she said. “Leadership isn't coded in pastels OR pinstripes. It's built on smart decisions, strategic risk-taking, grit, vision, experience, and raw talent.”
Business consultant Simon Goldsworthy says the change in dress code is a breath of fresh air from the days of jackets, ties, and cufflinks.
